Dept. of Environmental Protection Expands Information Portal
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has launched a major enhancement to the web site at http://www.mass.gov/dep/. The new site is an expanded gateway to information about the important work that MassDEP does to ensure clean air and water, the safe management of toxic and hazardous materials, the recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely clean up of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources.
The changes on the site organized the information around the media the DEP protects and regulates: air, water, and waste. The functionality is designed to respond to specific user needs: an improved search function, information presented from a community perspective, a place to conduct business with MassDEP online through the Service Center, and the ability to participate directly in environmental protection work.
